Second Fire Drill of 2017

On 30th December 2017, the company conducted the second and final fire drill of the year. The biannual exercise is meant to maintain alertness and readiness of the staff to respond to fire emergencies. The drill was conducted twice with the first being a normal drill and the second having two new scenarios added to simulate real fire event. The fire drill was led by trained and certified fire wardens who ensured a smooth evacuation of the premises to the assembly point.

BasicPlus CPR, AED & First Aid Course

On the 19th December, 2017, staff from AEGIS SDS along with members of AEGIS Secure Solutions and Sphere Secure Services attended for the 2-day First Aid course. The course aims to equip the staff with knowledge and skills to provide first aid care in the event of incidents. The course concluded with written and practical assessments in which all participants from SDS passed, adding 7 new certified First Aid providers to the existing 23 within the company.

First Aid Course

5 staff from Aegis Secure Solutions and Sphere Secure Services, along with staff from Aegis Secure Data Solutions had attended BasicPlus CPR, AED and First Aid for Adults, which was conducted by Joffren Omar Company Sdn Bhd. The course, lead by Kevin Chong, ran from 19 until 20 December 2017.

The aim is to have staff trained and certified as the first respondance to administer first aid until the paramedic or ambulance came to the scene. First aid helps in preserving life, preventing further illness or injury, and promotes recovery. Trained first aiders are taught how to do a high quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), how to address both conscious and unconscious casualties, the correct usage of Automated External Defibrillation (AED), control of bleeding, and any sudden illness that may happen. By the end of the course, participants went through both written test and practical examination, which reinforce their learning.

AEGIS Gala Night Event

Over 230 employee of AEGIS Secure Solutions and Sphere Secure Services (S3) attended their annual gala night at Terindak D’Polo over the weekend.

AEGIS Director cum guest of honour Ahmad Isa attended the event alongside AEGIS Country Manager, Jorge Vega and Assistant Superintendent of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Noorzali Bin Apong, who is also the FRD public relations officer.

The highlight of the night was the presenting of quarterly merit awards to 40 AEGIS and S3 personnel who had demonstrated excellence in carrying out their duties; and the presentation of certificates by Bomba to those who completed a fire marshal course. The evening included lucky draw, games/activities and staff performances. It was important opportunity to highlight the efforts and achievements of the staff for this year.

Supporting Youth Development Programmes

AEGIS SDS supports national apprenticeship programmes and currently has six Youth Development Programme (YDP) graduates in full time employment. The first intake of YDP graduates has been in service for 5 years and has attained supervisory and senior positions. The second intake of YDP graduates has been in service for 3 years and they are currently in senior operator and support positions.
