Jungle Trekking Trip to Bukit Teraja
On 10th March, a group of twenty staff took on jungle trekking challenge to Bukit Teraja in Belait. The trail is 11 km deep into jungle terrain full of natural obstacles consisting of tree roots, thickets, rocky slopes and small streams which require the trekkers to apply their knowledge and jungle craft skills to maneuver through.
Following a few hours of jungle trekking, the participants were rewarded with nice view of the Teraja waterfalls where they enjoyed the view and a pleasant dip in the pool. The group also visited the Teraja Long House as a pit stop where they rested up and enjoyed cultural performance organised by the local ethnic residents. Amongst the main attractions were traditional dance and musical instrument gulingtangan performance, a display of traditional hunting method using blowpipes and exhibits of traditional handicrafts such as woven basket and more.
AEGIS SDS encourages its staff to partake in healthy activities such as jungle trekking. Not only does it provide valuable experience it could also build up confidence, leadership and resourcefulness within an individual and at the same time raise awareness and appreciation towards nature.
